This'll probably be our only visit to Hong Kong ever, would you do disneyland in 1 day and Hong Kong 2 days or would you do disneyland in 2 days and HOng Kong In 1 day. Would it even be possible or worth it to do 1 1/2 days for each? We'll be flying in Friday night and flying out Monday night. Any sites in Hong Kong you'd recommend for a 1st timer?

However, if you must do Disney (understandable with kids, of course) I would recommend only 1 day. The park is pretty far from the city, and the city is amazing. Far too much to see and do even with only TWO days (nevermind 1).

I saw a lot of amazing stuff in my short visit (I plan to return, though I'll probably skip Disney the next time), but I'll save the recommendations for people who know more about the city.

Where are you staying, by the way? If you are staying in Kowloon or downtown, I might recommend you save Disney for the last day since it's far from Downtown but VERY close to the airport (assuming your flight out is pretty late...I'd say do that if you can stay at Disney from opening til at least 5 or 6pm).

P.S. You should also visit Ocean Park as well and enjoy the beaches and nice view in Southern Hk Island.

Can I ask, aren't the skyline (INCREDIBLE, by the way...I agree with wikipedia!) and the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront the same thing? I mean, you CAN see the skyline from there right? At least, I THINK that's where we were (near the Tsim Sha Tsui station, anyway).

And, by the way, it's easy to take a subway train under the bay (only one stop) BUT, be sure and take that super cheap ferry across from Kow Loon to downtown at LEAST once (at night is best, I think). The view of the skyline getting closer and closer is just magical. (I think the ferry is like 35 cents or something ridiculous like that...it's an 8 or 10 minute ride).

Also, there's a cool rope-train thing that takes you up to the peak (another cool zone, see the skyline from the backside, up ABOVE it).

Have a great time! This topic is making me want to go back to Hong Kong soon! ;)

My only suggestion is... make your money's worth and do *EVERYTHING* in the park... I mean all rides, all shows, parades, fireworks..go shopping and try some restaurants. You'll be surprised how quickly your day there will go. However, spend more time in the city since Hong Kong is a stunning city!

Dh would prefer we skip HKDL altogther, but since we're meeting my sister & their kids in Hong Kong, we might as well take them to Disneyland. We're staying at the Hollywood Hotel for the 1st 2 nights and then at the YMCA-Salisbury near the Peninsula (Kowloon)for the last night. We've booked a Harbour view suite at the YMCA so that we could enjoy the view of the harbor.

We're definitely watching the lights show at night and we also plan to take the tram to the Peak and ride the ferry into downtown. But what is the Hong Kong Wetland Park? Where can i find more information on it? We thought about Ocean Park, is it a theme park?
Do most places take credit card (visa, mastercard)? If not, how much HK$$ should we bring for 3 days and nights?

Regarding HKDL, does it have a parade and fireworks. Do they have a daily schedule of events handed out when you enter the park. If we do HKDL for 1 day, would it cramp our time in the park to do a character meal? Does anyone here have a personal review of their character meal? (we always do at least 1 character meal a trip in CA). Do hotels also hold luggages like they do in the U.S.? Ex: chcekout 11 am, but flight doesn't leave 'til 8pm. Would hotels store luggage after chcek out?

We leave in 12 days and are so excited. Our passports arrived a few days ago. Thanks again for all your wonderful advice. I've jotted them down in my notebook.

Its a new theme park where you can see wild birds, and some other animals like crocodile. its not a zoo, but an open space for wildlife.

quoted from the website: "The 61-hectare Hong Kong Wetland Park demonstrates the diversity of the Hong Kong's wetland ecosystem and highlights the need to conserve them. It presents an opportunity to provide an education and recreation venue with a theme on the functions and values of wetlands for use by local residents and overseas visitors."

Ocean Park is a local theme park, its VERY big and nice located on the coastal area. i think you can treat it like DCA. BUT it is very unique because you can see live sea animals in there, like dolphins, jellyfish (new attraction), sharks....etc. also they have birds, panda as well, a must go place for every visitors.

The character meal at the Enchanted Garden in the HKDL Hotel is a lot of fun and the buffet is just huge (at least 3 times the size of any DLR one). A real mixture of local and Western food too.

There is a daytime parade and fireworks. You should check the official website which has an English subsection for times guide. The park map and times guide are available in English as you enter the park.

Both hotels will store your luggage and there is a free shuttle bus to the train station.

If it is a clear day the trip up to Victoria Peak is phenomenal. A great experience too. If you are looking for shopping then it depends if you prefer department stores/malls or markets. HK has the best of both of any city I have ever visited.

Other attractions have to include the Star Ferry from HK Island to Kowloon side.
