I'm more of a fan of the early to middle years, but there are occasional later songs I like too (just about the entire White Album does nothing for me). A whole lot better than the Rolling Stones, IMO.

I am not so keen on their early work, but I recognise that Rock and Roll was huge in the UK when they first toured the clubs of Germany. For me it is when they started experimenting, it became interesting. Sgt. Peppers is in my top 10 albums of all time, and I love Yellow Submarine, the White Album, Revolver, Rubber Soul and Abbey Road (though Help and Hard Days Night, as well as Magical Mystery tour are great too). While they may have not had the most albums, or the longest career together, they to me are the single most influential band ever. They transcended the ages better than most, they united popular culture, they bolstered great ideas, and their ethos was amazing. I am a huge fan, though I do not listen as often as I should. I even produced a musical play at college based on their songs (before Love by the Cirque, but after the BeeGee's Sgt Pepper Movie). For me, although I love the Stones too, the Beatles are essential. However, post Beatles works was never the same for any of them, though ELO were fun, and I liked George Harrison's solo work. Not a big Wings or Plastic Ono band fan.
