This family is a wonderful example of how to take care of others even while you have so little. A low income, one income, family, who get by with VERY little, they spend a lot of time volunteering in the community. They deliver fruits and vegetables that are not going to be used by farmers to local low income families. They spend months collecting used clothing to give to people who have nothing and cannot afford to buy clothes for themselves or their children. Even while they have very little. AND, they have a Downs Syndrome teenager, and the challenges that come with having a special needs child. One of their teenage children just returned from a trip to Liberia where he spent time helping the children with studying, medical care and bible school. And, recently, they were chosen to have the opportunity to purchase a Habitat for Humanity home as well. They are the perfect candidates, as they always put others before themselves. Their little part of the world is a better place because they are there. Today they found out that Mr. lost his job. That in itself wouldn't normally be a disaster, as they have learned to do well with what little they have. And, they always get through the hard times. With the Habitat home now in the works, they must remain employed. So, without a job they may lose the home they so very much need and deserve. I am beside myself with sadness and concern. I am hoping the Habitat people understand this is temporary, and do not withdraw the offer of the home. So, if you're a praying person, please pray for my dear friends. If your not a praying person, please think happy thoughts. Thank you...

Perhaps the Habitat organization can speak to their corporate sponsors and other in-City contacts for employment offers. It is such a rewarding experience to help to build these homes. This family, my "adopted family" are just the nicest, sweetest, most helpful, most caring people I have ever met. I forgot to mention that Mr. also is a veteran of the US Army. This pattern of serving others is just who they are, and what they do. When I know more, I'll post an update. Thanks again everyone.
