For example, the infamous musical version of Stephen King's "Carrie" closed after 3 performances in 1988.

Warner Bros. got the three key Beauty & the Beast players together for this one (Linda Woolverton, Book, Robert Jess Roth, Director and Matt West, musical staging) thinking it was that easy to create a musical.

The glee in which he described the show to me is impossible to convey over message boards. I remember him saying that (at the start of the show) the theater was completely dark, and suddenly you heard a girl's voice shout, "I'm bleeding." He said the audience erupted in laughter. I would love to have seen it.
