    >>Three workers at Disneyland were taken to the hospital early today when one mixed two chemicals that created a noxious vapor, fire officials said.

The incident occurred at about 5:30 a.m. when one worker was attempting to chlorinate a water-spray system near the Flix Fanfare attraction, said Maria Sabol, a spokeswoman for the Anaheim Fire Department.

The chemicals were hydrochloric acid and sodium hydrochloride, a bleach, she said. She said the result was a vapor similar to that which occurs when household bleaches are mixed with some other household chemicals against the advice of product warning labels.

Sabol said the chemicals were being used to chlorinate a water system that feeds water jet sprays for a children's play area.

Firefighters and the Anaheim hazmat unit were supervising the cleanup. No interruption in park activities is expected, she said.<<

    >>Three employees at Disney's California Adventure were taken to a hospital early Friday after one of them mixed two chemicals that released a toxic gas, authorities said.

The worker accidentally mixed a gallon of a bleaching agent, sodium hypochlorite, with 15 gallons of hydrochloric acid in a water treatment system for the Flik's Fun Fare attraction area, said Maria Sabol, a spokeswoman for the Anaheim Fire Department.

The employees were taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where they were treated and released, Sabol said. <<

Also, isn't it interesting that the original post presented a scenario that was more alarming and sensational than the reality? It's not Elderp's fault, he/she just is paraphrasing what the media said; A CM was "burned" and "sent to the hospital" due to a "chemical spill" at DCA!

When the reality is that two CM's failed to follow the rules and mixed two cleaning products that they shouldn't. It caused some bad fumes, and they were taken to the hospital to make sure they were really okay and released shortly after their arrival. I once stupidly mixed bleach and some 409 trying to clean my shower once, and it made some awful fumes and made me light headed for a minute. I stepped out of the bathroom, cleared my head, and vowed never to do that again. But the media never found out and were unable to make a sensational news story out of something that is really nothing.

And the major media can't figure out why no one trusts them anymore.

Any Cast Member (or any person, for that matter) who has had basic chemicals training knows mixing bleach with almost anything creates toxic fumes.

But how healthy is it to be exposing your skin, eyes, lungs, and various other mucous membranes to this caustic bath of chemicals?

If I had a kid I wouldn't want them splashing about in this toxic soup.

I like how they have walk in fountains in Epcot and WDW's DTD that aren't listed as attractions, but at DLR, the walk in fountains are major attractions. Just something interesting I noticed...

    WRONG.

In the reports that Darkbeer has posted, no where did it say BURNED or CHEMICAL SPILL.

But it is possible to be burned from a chemicals so it is a reasonable assumption.

You interpreted Elderp's post as sensational which is your fault. It is definitely wrong though.

its pretty much the same toxic junk that is used in swimming pools.
The smell is usually pretty strong at first.

    Perhaps that a little strong...

Safety is the Resort's #1 concern - if it was a safety issue, the fountain would not be operating.

Ok, OC Register really bugs me. I can go on and on about how they like to mess up the facts.

They can't even check Disneyland.com to see if they have have the right name! Come on!
