What is it with wild animal attacks this week?

    I have coyotes on my front lawn. I think she did make a mistake in going into the woods alone. I feel you should always have a buddy with you. Who knows what could befall you.
    And, the experts are baffled by this coyote behaviour as usually coyotes are shy around humans. Scary.

    That's enough "When animals attack" topics from me for now.

They stop what they are doing & look at us as if we are invading their space! which, in turn, WE ARE! And those rotten bears broke my bird feeder & the turkeys won't cross the road fast enough & they shoot me dirty looks to when I honk at them!!

    It is terrible what happened to this hiker, my heart really goes out to her family/friends.

    That does to be very odd behavior for coyotes. I've seen a lot especially out in West Texas. Even packs seem to run if there is anyone nearby.

    They have gotten big and mean.. (Mostly because some stupid rich hunter decided to import Russian boars which have bred with the local population)

    The coyotes in my neighborhood keep pretty much to themselves. You still have to keep your animals in though. Our raccoons, on the other hand, have no problems coming right on the porch and driving our Akita crazy by yelling at her through the sliding glass door.

I'm thinking that at least here in SoCal that the drought may be a factor...we've seen the bunnies come into backyards for grass and ice plant because it's so dry here the small stream and little ponds are no more and nothing is growing in the back country...so there isn't enough vegetation to support a healthy rabbit population...so competition for food and trying to find a sorce of water are probably what is making coyotes more aggressive.

    Something which gets me is when the experts say "Coyotes would never do this." Well, HELLO, they just did and you can't explain it and you're supposed to be the expert.
