Thanks for the info though. I guess I'll probably stay away then.

Sheesh, is life that boring that everybody and their brother has to go to Disneyland all the time?
I haven't been there in over 12 years and was on my way down to Palm Springs for a baseball tourny, and thought it would be cool to do Disney for a day, instead of my usual Magic Mountain.
Alas, MM is not open on weekdays anymore, so Disney was going to be it.
But if it's busy, with half hour or more waits for rides, forget it.
    Am I not normal?
I just don't understand how people can stand in ride lines for hours and hours.
It's worse than going to the dentist.

Ok you Disney vets, let me ask you this:

Assuming I get there right when the park opens, and I want to ride the 3 biggies, Splash, Indy, and Space, how would I strategically go about this?

Run to Space first? Then what? Not familiar with Fastpass either.

I was there on the 10th of December. A Saturday. Also a Toy for tots day where you got in for free by giving a new toy to the Marines there.
Needless to say, the park was friggin crawling with line standers. I had a horrible time, didn't get to ride any of the hot rides as lines were well over an hour long. Did stick it out in a 45 minute wait for the famous log ride. Whoo hooo!
Knott's Berry Farm is a very poor man's Disneyland, I think you'll agree.

If I want thrill rides, nothing beats Magic Mountain. But again, they're not open this Friday. Plus, I got a little nostalgia for good ole Disney right now.

I would go to Space and pick up a fastpass, head over and ride Indy, then ride Splash. Head back to Space for your fastpass.

As to what is special? The whole park has been spruced up and looks great! The new parades are wonderful and the fireworks are awe inspiring. THAT'S why folks are flocking to the parks. It's a shame you've been away 12 years!
