Without the frantic rush of trying to get on every attraction like we did when our kids were small, we can appreciate the beauty of the parks themselves and always manage to find some little thing that we have never seen before.

The only scary ride (I think) is Summit Plummet at Blizzard Beach. If you're scared of water slides, definately don't do that one.

I would even suggest you skip MGM and head to one of the water parks instead. Kick back, chill, and read a book under a palm tree... very relaxing if you are not into going in the pools and slides. As for this topic... does going to WDW on any given day, for lunch at DTD and not going into any of the parks... would that count?

It's fun, and never need an admission ticket. And yes, we are local, and have APs, so we don't feel the need to actually enter one of the parks.

Now I can say in 25+ trips to WDW I have never gone to DQ -- We used to have one in Chicago - and in Chicago I thought it was actually pretty cool - there's too much else to do in WDW also we only go to one water park per trip - our trips are usually 7 - 10 days in duration so I have never gone and not gone to one of 4 main parks - do them all each time.

Although, last trip my son got me to do Soarin'. It was great! But I would have been more comfortable if it was "Floatin'" Will I do it again? you bet. I like Star Tours, but there are a couple times when I have to look down. But Soarin, I couldn't take my eyes off it.

Stupid video games at that's about it. One thing I only enjoyed there... the elevator ride with Genie as you enter the building... other than that, skip like the plague. >>OMG.. you don't know what a coward I am.<< STOP THAT! You have nothing to fear at the water parks. Most everything they have is sedated fun. Even the "fast" slides are tame by nature. Only at Blizzard Beach, the Summit Plummit is the only ride that I would concider scary, and only because of the height and not the speed.

As a local I would love to just stop in at a hotel and have dinner, maybe watch fireworks from a beach somewhere, and then head on home. But if I'm looking for a general vacation at a nice hotel, I wouldn't pick WDW if it weren't for the parks. Not that there's anything wrong with the hotels. But you're paying a pretty high premium to just lounge by the pool.

And I, too, have never checked out the water parks (although I did a sort of "tour" of Blizzard Beach once, so I know what it looks like but didn't swim). Not cause I'm afraid, but because I do not like to display my fat body for all to see at waterparks!
