:-D These two blog entries do a great job covering the less than original aspects of this "new" park.

Hopefully the slogan "Disneyland is too far away, Please come to Beijing Shijingshan Amusement Park!" is left over from before there were even talks of building HKDL, but I'm skeptical of it.

“I don’t understand why that is such a big problem. Shouldn’t others be able to use those characters besides [Disney]?â€

Not to sound insensitive to other cultures, but I'm sure this is a very common attitude in China. The communist government runs everything, so everybody gets to share, but it really would be nice if international stuff was still done in a respectful manner.

I guess it's pretty fitting that the official website is "www.bs-amusement-park.com"!

Don't seek anything more behind it... ,

    well that was Nara's Wonderland....
    IN JAPAN.
Its closed now, since a year or so... probably just bankrupt.
Why are Japanse people (TV people !!!) now "discovering" a park in Beijing, that is allready old, and has made NO attempt to copy Disneyland (be honest, even that flat faced castle has really nothing to do with the disneyland castle... and how many "Cinderella castles" are there in the world? Hundreds??? Thousands???...if you count all those on midget golf coarses... :) :) )
Then, right there IN Japan, N.Wonderland copied the plan structure of Disneyland, the D.Railroad Station at the entrance, Main Street, The Cinderella castle, the monorail (YES! a true Alwag type...), the Matterhorn mountain (Real thing Copyright in Switserland!! haha..), etc...
And copied everything so rudimenary bad..
Have you EVER heared some TV-station people in Japan beeing upset about their own Disney copy ????? Nooooo, of course not...
Did Disney went there with lawsuits etc??? Nooooooo, of course not (neither they will start such in China, it would be 200% ridiculous)
N.Dreamland just died the death of poorness, by the appearance of Tokyo Disneyland. Naturaly.

This Beijing park will not suffer of whatever Disney park, because it IS NOT a copy of aa Disneypark, it is a common fun/thrill rides park, and there is a place for any such, locally, anywhere on earth...
The entrance price seems to be low, so locals without a checkbook to travel, can have a fun day out.
In that respect: YES, "Disneyland is too far away".. Think about what people earn, and CAN afford for a day out... that is a far more interesting way of thinking than in the Japanse TV-newsshow comedy.
