To the folks who know more than me, what does it mean when twins are trying to come out at 27weeks?

She had a miscarriage before, I know she is desperate to have these babies. I don't want to send some sort of BS "everything will be fine" message, but I'd like to know if this situation might have a silver lining or not (I did check the google before I wrote here, but it was hard to find good info because most of it talked about premies from 21-23 weeks...I'm hoping 27 weeks is a better thing!).

Survival rate for twins born at 27 weeks: Up to 90%.

A simple message of love and encouragement is always appreciated. No need to overstate, and gushy sentiment would be hollow under the circumstances.

(I'm sitting here in a hospital room next to my wife, who suffered cardiac arrest on May 6. So... I feel that 90% looks awfully good!)

What's JB's condition, is she in surgery now or what else is going on?

    Take care.

How's that little girl of yours? I was so upset when I saw the thread on the reactors over there. IT'S A CRIME! (Had to say that.)

Yes it's not a great situation, I knew that much!

As you said those, the survival rate is high and medical science is amazing these days...

And as far as THAT is concerned, tell those nurses to take good care of your wife right now. :)

I hope you guys can go home reassured, will there be any test results before you leave?

    ***Jamie's asleep***

    Good to hear!

***How's that little girl of yours?***

She's fine. Happy and well. She'll be home from school in 10 minutes or so and I'm planning to take a walk with her.

***I was so upset when I saw the thread on the reactors over there. IT'S A CRIME! (Had to say that.)***

You and me both, man. I'm beside myself with worry, but there's not much I can do one way or the other anyway...so taking a walk sounds good to me.

Compared to what you guys are going through, I can't complain.

I hope you get some good answers from the docs! I can't imagine the frustration for you guys right now, I can only hope those medical geniuses can give you both some answers SOON!

BTW...here's what I wrote to my old friend (she asked for positive energy for her babies)...

"All the positive energy I can muster is directed right at your kids right now Jayme!

They're early birds, but it's not TOO early if they want to join Party Earth now. They'll be in good shape with the help of you and your docs and nurses. :)"

(yes, her name is Jayme too, different spelling though)

I guess we'll hear some news within hours, her latest update was that they were giving her drugs to try and keep the babies from emerging as well as steroids to help their lung development.

Fingers crossed and positive energy directed towards New Hampshire and California!

(I'll enlist Little X's help as soon as she gets home...she's good at that stuff!)

I agree with Doug's approach here, just be there for her, that is the thing. The prognosis these days have improved, but disability and low immune systems for life are very common in such premature babies. I was born at 30 weeks, with the placenta in front of me and the chord around my neck, I was intovated and in ICU for quite a bit of my early years, and fight a low immune system now as well as having non progressive cerebral palsy. But other than that, things have been fine. Others are more lucky and others are less. But that was 37 years ago and things have improved.

But I would be inclined not to give false hope, simply to say that science has improved greatly as have survival rates. As long as the medical pracs are engauged throughout, it should help.

Doug, I am so sorry to hear the all clear has not been given. Please give our love to Jamie, and we keep you all in our positive thoughts. Big hugs to you as well my friend. Take care.

How are the kids' doing with their mom being poorly?

I hope that I didn't do so, at least not TOO much...I am very much aware of how grave this situation is based on all of my google searches coupled with Doug mentioning that the nurses were taken aback (NOT a good sign to say the least!)...

I'm hoping and praying for the best (yeah, I do pray sometimes...particularly when loved ones and kids are concerned!). No more updates as of yet...hopefully that means she's in the middle of taking care of the babies with the full help of the docs and nurses!

IF I hear any updates from her, I'll let you all know (keep praying).
