But I'd be OK with the clown if it were removed from the bare stucco box and later reinstalled on a truly dimensional Victorian facade. Maybe that's a solution that would make both of us happy.

Much of DCA is lacking due to the original designers trying to cram in everything from WDW and Disney's America concept, and doing a half a**ed job of it. That's the feeling I get now that there are only 4 little games in what is supposed to be a complete "midway" of games. There really needs to be more of them. If they are fun and good, of course.

I really don't think that it will really fit in with the Victorian theming the way it is, but I kind of like the idea. If it were up to me, I would replace it with a really creepy Victorian-inspired clown. Little kids are going to be scared of it no matter what, so why not go all the way and make it look like a real oversized antique toy? (old toys are, IMO, the creepiest thing ever) I don't think there's anything that they can do (within reason) that would be creepier than the giant ringmaster the have hunched over inside the store holding up the ceiling, so I say they should just go all out and do it.

Here it is as it stands today:

I think redressing the building is key. Hopefully they've figured out a way to save the clown. It's a very cool sign for a vintage beach boardwalk.

It actually is designed to look like a jack-in-the box.

Guess we will know by the end of the year. Still no real word on when the gift shops are closing though.

IMO, carnivals are supposed to be scary places, and what better way to do that than with a terrifying clown? And if they ever decide to build an attraction inside that building (probably with most of it behind Screamin, like the TSMM setup), they have the perfect facade for it. Clowns (or jack in the boxes, whatever you want to call it) scare kids. Why not just accept that fact and go full out and terrify everybody while you're at it?

But this is probably a lot closer to what they will actually give us, if they do decide to go the antique route...

You're completely right about the second pic. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see something like that take its place.

The problem is that Donald would be a very bad spokes person. No one can understand a word he says.

Say goodbye to the unnerving clown. There are abundant images of the complete makeover, and the clown, along with all the stucco boxes, will be going away.

Maybe he'll turn up for sale at the second annual D23 Expo...!
