It was clean, comfortable and the service was good, but the rooms were small and basic. I would only really recommend the hotel for a couple or those with small children. The hotel facilities are meagre and you can have a bit of a trek between your room and the main building.

If you're not planning on hanging around the hotel much then Santa Fe is fine and I would stay there again, but if it's not too much more expensive I'd rather stay at the Cheyenne of the two "Value" hotels because the theming is better.

Another option is to try the Holiday Inn. As a "Good Neighbor" style hotel it has the free shuttle bus etc. and is not much further than the Santa Fe, 2 or 3 minutes bus ride at worst. The facilities are more in line with what you might expect at the Sequoia. You can book direct on the Holiday Inn website and usually rooms are a steal. I've stayed there several times and it is a great option on a budget. One thing to mention is that the Holiday Inn is not part of the Magic Hour program so that may have a bearing on it!!!

Having stayed here 3 times, it's ok, but I much prefer the Cheyenne or even more so, the Holiday Inn (but that doesn't cover extra magic hours). Also, if it is still hot, the Santa Fe and Cheyenne do not have air con.

That all being said, I also like the Holiday Inn, it's a good quality hotel, the only thing I would say is please make sure you're up early for the buses to the parks, we've had a couple of bad experiences with that.
