Stayed at the Anaheim Hilton using the $89 special. Got upgraded to the Executive Floor. Staff was a little stand-offish, it was obvious that they didn't like families in the Lounge - they treated business people very well - but were a little nasty to some of the families. 2. DL - Night Fantastic - um...let's see - a few comments on this: o Fantasmic - still a great show, but other than the Crocodile and a few new lighting effects on the Princess Rafts - none of the other new stuff was working. No Dragon (still); no Eels during Ursula's song. o Magical - a BEAUTIFUL show - but a real letdown after Remember (IMO). There were long gaps where there were no fireworks being launched - so it seemed (on several occasions) that the show had ended - only to have it start up again. Oh yes - Dumbo was not flying either - so that was disappointing. o Disney's Electrical Parade - ALWAYS terrific - the new floats and enhancements were a real plus. We liked the new soundtrack - and it didn't "do away" with the Baroque Hoedown. The ending was much tighter as the final announcement came within about a minute after the America unit went by. The night we saw it - it was delayed for over 20 minutes - Tink's float broke down and had to be towed. They then "rushed" the rest of the parade (since they delayed the Fireworks as well). Still - a great parade - and it will be wonderful to have it back at DL where it belongs next year. 3. Didn't care for the Celebrate Street Party - much prefer a REAL parade to this kind of event. 4. New stuff - IASW was really good. We liked the characters (except for Ariel - she stood out a bit too much!). New Monorails (orange and blue were running continuously) were nice. 5. It was strange to have so many attractions and shops closed during the summer. I understand that this is no longer the peak season in terms of overall visitors - HOWEVER - the makeup of the summer guests is such that these folks are NOT the locals who can come to the park every weekend - so the rehabs would make more sense to take place when the out-of-town visitors are there. 6. Overall - the park is looking good. Sure - there were some paint chips missing, and some burnt out lights (we like to spot these and announce "oh no - a burnt out light bulb - our trip has been ruined!) It would be nice to see a little more attention paid to these details like they used to (but it did NOT ruin our trip!). DCA is a MESS right now (the corridor of walls!) from the Winery to Mullholland's Madness it's one HOT wall of concrete. Work has started on the Orange Stinger - converting it to "Mickey's Swing Set" (or whatever it's going to be called <<vbg>>) - World of Color will be nice next year - Carsland is coming along (we had a great view from the Lounge at the Hotel of that construction). On a scale from 1 .. 10, it still rates a strong 9. Tomorrowland needs another makeover; they need a real DAYTIME Parade; and there is just too much construction going on during the Peak Travel Season (Summer).
