I have to say that I think the new improved Space Mountain is just that... greatly improved! I love the spinning launch effect! It's really easy to let your mind think the track is also rotating and I love that feeling! I think the new music and effects track is also wonderful!
OK so the reason for the post other then to gush about the ride is this.... As soon as the countdown concludes and gravity takes over, suddenly there is this rush of cool wind on your face that continues for the entire ride until the landing sequence. Now I know for a fact the cars are not really going all that fast and it seems the force of the wind is really high relative to the speed of the cars. Are they blowing air on the cars? It's too dark to see much of anything, let alone air ducts or hoses. My friend noticed it too. I don't recall it when we were sitting previously in the rear car. I have to say the front seat is the real E-ticket. Even though I know every twist and turn of the ride by heart, you cannot see a darn thing and it is really great up front with the wind rushing over you! So anyone know? Is it really just the speed of the cars or is it augmented to make it seem like you are going faster. If so, it's a great effect and very well done, as I didn't notice anywhere that the wind let up until it was over. Thanks for any input on this one!

I must disagree I think there is an extra air effect...we rode Space at least 8 times from 10/15-10/17 and each time I came off a bit chilled I loved it!!!!!

I notice this also in the hyperion - possibly because prior to going inside, the guests are standing in the direect sun surrounded by concrete, metal and stucco.

Also stepping inside 'pirates' you're instantly greeted by cool air, with that unique 'pirates' smell musty chlorine.

So I think what you're noticing on SM has as much due to the cooler temperatures (and the darkness) as any fans they might have to pump in the A/C.

As for Disney having good AC on all of their rides, you should really go on Spaceship Earth sometime soon. The top part is always quite toasty, even when it is fairly cool outside. Then again, it is probably really hard to make it a comfortable temperature at the bottom and at the top, since the building is so tall, but still, not so much fun.

They might be doing that with space
