Anyway, I found out yesterday (by reading a newspaper article) that it's called Black Friday because it often puts the stores "in the black". LOL!!!! I swear I thought it was called that because it was a feared shopping day, crazy crowds, be careful of the crazy shoppers, etc. My kids of course laughed at me when I asked them if they knew why it was called Black Friday :) DUH!

So, I'm wondering if I am the only person on earth that didn't know why it was called Black Friday? Come LPers, help me out here :) Please, anyone?

You know -- long lines for Xbox 360, all the people who get trampled at the various Wal-Marts around the country -- that kind of stuff.

Why don't they use "green" for good profitty stuff instead of "black"? That would avoid confusion, lol.

I dunno what those Steely Dan lyrics mean, but they're from the song "Black Friday". They almost work in terms of the retail association. Until the kangaroos part.
