It's still quite early but I'm so excited, I had to share! We told my parents today when we got to Phoenix and we'll tell the grandparents tomorrow! I saw the doctor yesterday and got tons of blood taken and other fun stuff. On January 19th (the day before my birthday!) I have an appointment for my first ultrasound! Needless to say, we're thrilled but plenty nervous as well! And the morning sickness (who came up with that? mine has been all day sickness!) came almost immediately. It made the car ride today quite interesting but we all arrived safe and sound! Anyway, if anyone has any tips for combating morning sickness (and my nervousness in general) I would be happy to hear them!

So I've been going in to our computer room recliner where I can read myself back to sleep but it hasn't been great sleep at all. Keep nibbling as best you can. Obviously you want to be eating healthy, but these first few weeks when you're feeling rotten, just eat what appeals to you (unless it would be truly dangerous for baby, like soft cheeses or certain fish). When I was pregnant with little Miss Glitter (my first), I had pretty severe morning sickness (all day long, like you), and for some strange reason, Burger King hot ham and cheese sandwiches were one of the few foods I could tolerate. Not very healthy, but it was important to keep eating something. Once my morning sickness passed (at about twelve weeks), I concentrated on the healthy foods. Saltines really do help. Keep them in your purse, your car, on your bedside table--everywhere. When you first wake up in the morning, BEFORE you so much as lift your head up off the pillow, eat a few of those saltines. I also kept bananas on my bedside table as they were one of the non-spoiling type foods that I could tolerate. I would wake up in the middle of the night hungry, so I'd eat a banana and be able to go back to sleep. This too shall pass, my dear. Hang in there! Oh, and I highly, highly recommend the book "What to Expect When You're Expecting" to all first time mommies. It has so much wonderful information and advice.
