I'd like to be no more than 15 minutes from hotel if possible. My problem is I don't want to spend more than $100/night, need a non-pet, no-smoking hotel, want a decent pool and free breakfast would be nice. I want the place not to be a dive, clean, friendly would be nice.

    Good Luck

There is a pretty new big mall further down "Magic Mountain Parkway" heading east. Barely a mile down. Just turn right at McBean Parkway.

Within this area is a Hyatt .. Next to Magic Mountain along the 5 Freeway is a Best Western. Just past the mall to the north is a Shaver Lake Lodge.

Do download Google Earth. I love it! Better than mapquest. :)

Super close to the 5, then you just zip down to Magic Mountain and are there within minutes. I'v stayed at the hotels there, and they are really nice.

As far as worth it, it depends on the kids. I was there 22 years ago for my honeymoon and we had a lot of fun. Of course it's changed MUCH since then. A lot of big thrill rides. So if you kids are older (like mine) they might really get into that.
