I have not been to Disneyland in almost 6 months. This is a long time for me, and I am having major withdrawls (LOL)!
Does anyone know if there will be any conventions for the week of the 11th to 15th? I tend to have pretty good luck with the second week in September (such as no crowds, no waiting in lines for more then 2 minutes).
    Any info is appriciated!

We haven't been to DL in years, so we are hoping for short lines, etc. also. This year, we are buying AP's so we can go back again soon! I hope you both have great trips!

That's the best way to do it, as the train still has great service, comfy accomodations, excellent freshly cooked food, great onboard entertainment, and a view that can't be beat. It's nothing like the horrible state of the airlines these days.

I often take the Coast Starlight up and down the West Coast. It's just so much fun! You're a very smart traveler. Are you in a sleeping car, or in coach?

I love taking the train. I'm staying in a family room sleeper with 4 other members of my family. It's not a bad price when it's split 5 ways. Plus all meals are included!
This is our 6th time getting the family room. We are all over the age of 17, so the two 4 foot beds are a little squishy! The two shortest sleep there and it works fine.
It's funny because some of the Amtrak phone agents won't let you book a family room with 5 adults. They are firm on TWO ADULTS AND THREE SMALL CHILDREN ONLY. We just say "Okay" and call back until we get an agent that doesn't care! Usually takes only one or two call backs.
We are set to go! A whole week of NO WORK! ;);););)

As far as conventions go, here's a link to the Anaheim/Orange County convention page. The largest convention in town 9/11 - 9/14 is the Sysco FOod show, but only an estimated 6,500 attendees.

These are the hexagon shaped bricks customized with names and a dates between the entrances of Disneyland and Disney's California. Unfortunately they installed it after our yearly trip back in February. We'd love to have a picture of it. If you're willing to take a snapshot while you're there, my family and I would be very appreciative. I could direct you to where it's located :) thanks for your consideration!

I checked out the crowd situation a few months ago when I booked. I heard that the weekend of the 16th & 17th, there will be a Disney Half Marathon. I also here that since the 50th celebration ends at the beginning of Oct, there may be higher crowds than expected due to people wanting to see the 50th celebration before it ends.

Does anyone know how the line is at POTC lately? I've heard since the release of POTC Dead Mans Chest that the lines have been heavy... what is the latest?

Hey thanks for the offers! Here’s our brick # C07 485, you should be able to find it in the north west area of the plaza. That’s on the left side when looking at the Disneyland entry gates. Below is an aerial shot of the plaza with the red mickey marking the general location. Travel safe and have a great time :)
