There were three of us in the office with the Casting CM who interviewed us. She went one by one, asking us various questions about our experience, background, interests, availability, etc. When she got to me, she asked me the basics about experience and availability. She then asked me if I saw myself working in any particular place in the park, or if I had any special requests. I was totally flexible, and I told her that I really didn't care where I worked. I told her that I just wanted to work at Disneyland and had wanted to since I was a youngster. It had always been my dream to work there. I was cast as a Tomorrowland Attractions Host. I don't know how they do it nowadays. I don't know how much of a say you have in where you're cast. I guess it largely depends on where they have openings too. I just focused on how flexible I was with my schedule, and how much I wanted to be part of the Disney experience. It ended up being a great place to work. Everything I expected it to be. I was there for ten years, working at the park through college, and then into my earliest years as a teacher. Primarily I worked in Tomorrowland and Fantasyland Attractions. I've heard some people say it has changed a lot over the years. But in my opinion if you have a passion for what you do (in this case, working for Disney), it doesn't matter what others say. Disney may have changed over the years (especially as we get further away from Walt's direct influence), the dream and the magic are still there...if you allow them to be. It's all in the attitude.

I've made some neat friends by just being there at the right time. I love the Disney-tude! and try to pass it on, know that you do also. Anyone else want to join the "LP-retired working at DL Crew"? It may be a few or maybe many years until you'd actually work there but thats what I call a great retirement plan.
