Anthing Special goin on March 9th or 10th

I am going to the park with my family ....we are going to club 33....which is special in itself...but just was wondering if there is anything particular going on.....

That's probably the beginning of Spring Break season, so the crowds will probably be a little heavier than usual. The hours start to be extended around that time, so I would definately plan on more people being there. Other than that, it doesn't look like anything particular is planned then.

That's also the weekend of the MASSIVE Natural Products Expo. 40,000 attendees. It will definitely affect park attendance.

While not as big as the expo, starting March 10 there is a Music in the Parks adjudicated competition for school groups, with the awards ceremony to take place in Disneyland. We will be there with 100 high school students on 3/10 , and I think there are 20 other groups competing.

Misty2 is correct - I believe that is the first weekend for the Music in the Parks - Heritage Festival as we attend the following weekend (3/17-18) for the choir event and then some of my sons friends go the next weekend (3/24-25) for a band event. The park really should list these on their calendars so people who don't want to be in DL with hundreds of teens and a few chaperones can avoid the park on these days!!

Misty2 - I don't know how you guys chaperone, but there are about 8 teens (15-18yrs) for each chaperone and 12 chaps - we only have the kids check in so they are free in the parks, they just can't go to DtD. Feel sorry for any newbies those weekends...

Actually, our teenagers are generally a good group of kids. We are bringing the chamber and symphony orchestras. The Symphony actually went to New York last year and performed in Carnegie Hall! We managed to keep them safe in NYC, and they had a blast. We will have groups at mandatory check-in times, and have them divided by groups/chaperones. So while they are free to enjoy the parks (and downtown disney) they have to check in (in person!) routinely during the day/evening.

For the most part our kids are equally as well behaved - it's just those few who make it hard on the rest of the group... My point about listing it would only be for the newbies coming in with little ones and not knowing how to steer their stollers (battering rams) with so many people!! I have had a pegprego double stroller hit my ankle (for no apparent reason other than the driver not paying attention to the fact that there was a line at the snack cart). They should make you take a road hazard test before they let you into the crowded park with those weapons!!!

The Big West basketball conference tournaments are going on. The Big West isn't as big a deal nationally as some of the other conferences, but it's big enough. In previous years, I've noticed a definite increase in the number of very tall Guests around the parks during this tournament.
