Is this something that happens most weekends? Or is it unusual? Did it happen over spring break? I'm just wondering if this week might actually be more crowded than the last two. Fortunately, Disneyland handles crowds really well and it hasn't ruined our trip by any means. Fastpass helps. But I sure have to wonder what else is going on this week that has so many people here?

I must say that planning a trip to DLR is becoming very complicated. It used to be good enought to just go off season if you wanted to avoid crowds. Now you have to factor in: Promotions like the 2fer. Conventions Other special events (gay days, etc.) SoCal non-traditional (year round) school schedules And you can pretty much write off any weekend (Friday-Sunday) as crowded. I'm begining to believe that the off season is only a few weeks a year.

My bottom line is that I hate going when its super crowded, which is becoming the norm. For me it diminishes the "value proposition" and makes me feel open to considering vacation alternatives. I wouldn't mind paying higher admission prices if it would keep the crowd levels down. But DLR's philosophy these days seems to be the opposite. They offer discounts on hoppers during spring break, and sell discounted 1 day passes (the 2fers) to locals during this same time frame. I guess they figure that they will make it up with increased food and merchandise sales.
