Just wondering if anyone bought this piece? I've been sitting on the fence about purchasing this and also the Disneyland omnibus. At the moment I can get the monorail for $124.00 plus shipping on disneyshopping.com, which seems pretty good, considering it was originally priced at $299.

I bought the Jungle cruise boat way back when, and I have to say I was disappointed with it. It just seemed a bit too plastic for my liking, loved the box though!

Anyway, any thoughts about this piece would be much appreciated.

not sure what you know of the history of the 1955 Jungle boat, but they were a plastic of sorts,fiberglass! I have two of the jungle boats and they are extremely accurate..err, I should know, my name is on the bottom of the stand along with Rich's. On the monorail, it's you choice, but you will not find a more accurate model of the MK1 today or probably ever. That's what MR along with Disney Artists and two other guys came up with. Many conversations with Bob Gurr on this one, going back and forth with drawings when the prototyping was be made for the master patterns. When Bob was finally happy "his train" was correct, the patterning was started. Progress photos of the patterns were sent for his approval continually until the masters were finished, then sent to Disney reps to send to MR for final production work here's a couple pics for your consideration.... to me, it's spot on I love it!

All I can say is if you are on the fence about getting the monorail is this. If you miss the old style monorails and ever wanted an accurate replica of it, then the tomato red monorail is a must have. Every single detail was painstaking researched and realized on this replica, bar none. This in every sense of the word, a miniature of the 1959 MK1 Disneyland Monorail, I have 5, 2 blue and 3 red(my favorite). In case ya missed it or didnt know, Red was first, then followed by Blue a couple weeks later.

I'm still resisting, I've just bought another couple of pieces from disneyshopping.com, so cant buy anymore this month. August though is only around the corner!
