Think it's supposed to be a 'sunset' shot -- giving it that neat color.

Eventually the store shelves will be filled with the latest Disney movie merchandise and junk from some Princess franchise. I certainly hope it doesn't, but I doubt it.

Buena Vista Street does look fantastic. But with maybe some exceptions in the food locations, I have no expectations that any of the stores will offer 1930 themed merchandise.

I also worry about the DCA CM's of 2012 fitting into those themed 1930 uniforms, with their stringy hair pulled into a dirty scrunchy, and their 30 second makeup job, and their scuffed-up modern shoes from Target. It's like Disney doesn't even care anymore that many of these CM's look like they literally rolled out of bed wearing their uniforms and shuffled in to work.

It's the details that matter, but the CM kids don't even know that. I honestly don't think anyone has ever told them.

But on a brighter note, from at least 15 feet away and ignoring the Cast Members working there, Buena Vista Street is going to look absolutely FANTASTIC! I really can't wait to explore this new land next summer.

Especially some of the ladies. And ladies, NONE of us are 19 anymore and can roll into that morning PolySci class with minimal work and still look good. Similarly, you can't roll into work in a polyester themed uniform and only spend 3 minutes on your hair and makeup and expect to pull it off.

I wish Disney could do something about the way so many of their park employees look. The WDI creative types spend all this time and money (LOTS of money!) to pull together a fabulous looking environment like Buena Vista Street, and then TDA spends all this money to design and maintain a gazillion themed uniforms for these employees to wear, but the end result looks so slobby because the employees wearing the uniforms don't appear to give a darn. And no manager ever seems to stop them at the break room and says "Hey, your hair looks like a rats nest, your eyeliner looks like Cleopatra, your shoes look like you just played soccer in them, and your uniform hasn't been pressed in a week. You can't work like that, you need to go home for the day."

I wish Disney could crack down on things with the way their front-line CM's look.

I just watched Pan Am on ABC tonight and had to laugh at the girdle checks and hat inspections the stewardesses had to go through when checking in for their next flight. It obviously shouldn't be like that, but would it kill Disney to do at least the bare minimum when it comes to checking out their hourly CM's before they report to work? Or helping them try to live a healthier life so they didn't look so unfortunate in their themed uniforms? It's getting bad out there. :-(
