I have a Westerland/Mark Twain repro that was sold not long after the park opened--one of these is available on eBay now at a preposterous Buy-It-Now price. So, the questiono would be, if Oriental Land paid WDI to do work, who would own the artwork--the Walt Disney Company or Oriental Land. My bet is that the rights belong to the Walt Disney Company and Oriental Land has a license to use the works.

Not to mention overhead- the Merch dept at TDL needs shelf space to put the product, and if something else would sell better, well they'll choose to carry that other product instead. So if OLC thinks posters won't sell and they choose the products, it doesn't matter who owns the image or how much they'd like to release it.

Many of the items are beautifully reproduced through this process, though a few are not. However, it's a real thrill for a Disney junkie to be able to look over screen after screen of original concept art and buy copies of it.
