    And particularly not around Tokyo/Chiba - they've had Disney "tours" before, which are more like shameless promotions, but this was different. Not sure why it happened, but it was *very* cool, unusual, and fun to watch!

    "this was different" - what I mean is, it was more like TDL giving back to the community. They weren't selling tickets, or anything like that. Just a cool "extra", only for the residents of Urayasu.

    OLC didn't organize that event it was organized by Urayasu residents apart from the city although from the next Urayasu festival the city was involved. We actually participated and pulled the Fukuoka dragon float that shot out fireworks. I think way more impressive than Mickey was seeing the Neputa floats which is extremely rare and I hope maybe after the cities construction is finally finished they can do something similar to what was done that first year.

    After the earthquake the event was held but really toned down. Mickey still made an appearance as did the community groups and the Japan Self Defense Forces but of course the huge floats from around Japan and the Neputa floats from the Tohoku region were not a part of it. Not sure what is happening this year but at the moment traffic can barely get down Symbol Road let alone a huge all day parade.
