I shut the thing off, hoping it would re-set itself; cranked up the ceiling fan in the bedroom and went back to sleep. At 7 a.m., I tried again. Compressor groaned in rebellion; the air felt ALMOST cool, but then more noise from the roof and I could tell by the smell of the air that it was just... air. Called an AC company owned by someone that works at the same company I do... They're sending someone between 11 & 3; sooner if one of the techs finishes their jobs earlier (they were already at someone else's home at 7 a.m.) Not much of a Fourth of July celebration for these guys, either... but the money will be good. :-( Keep your fingers crossed for us, eh? Thanks!

Wishing you a Happy Fourth and that LP's "hottest" babe will soon have the title of also being the "coolest".

Drink lots of water and I am keeping my fingers crossed that they get to your house soon!

Showed up RIGHT at 11 a.m. (the inside temp was only about 84 - thank goodness for decent insulation and lots of fans. Turned out to be the condensor fan motor. He replaced it and the house was beginning to cool down by the time Mr. Alice got home at 12:30. I was really fretting the holiday time/availability, etc., but from the sounds of things and the invoice - for LV at least - it was considered just another work day in that business (same with retail, etc.) I gave him a bottle of water and good tip to pay for a nice lunch or dinner... he was a happy camper when he left.
