So out of Ralph Brennan's, House of Blues, and Catal, which two would you pick? Or what else would you recommend? (We've decided to pass on Napa Rose this time, excellent though it is.)

Again, we like to eat outside if possible. HOB, to me, is more like a Joes Crab Shack or Chilis. This is not a bad thing. The ribs were good and the atmosphere was VERY casual. I don't know anything about the "Blues" part as we just ate there on a random night. In my mind it offers the best food at the resort (that I have tried, I haven't eaten everywhere) besides Napa Rose. They have a nice wine selection, and great service. We requested a table on the balcony at 8:30, and were able to view the fireworks from our table. You can't hear the music for the fireworks, and it's not a perfectly centered view or anything, but it was a fun way to end a meal. The restaurant felt like a "special event" restaurant; we dressed up a bit and were happy we did so, although I'm sure you wouldn't have to if you didn't want to. When we went to a Food and Wine event a few years ago at DCA which featured food from many of the resort restaurants, we first tried the food from Catal. They served some sort of delicious beef dish, and my husband and I were convinced that we had to eat there. Again, in our opinion, the food they offered at the Food and Wine event was second only to the mushroom soup that Andrew Sutton served from Napa Rose. At that meal chefs from all over the resort were serving their specialties, and Catal was a definite stand out. There is no themed ambiance there such as you might find at Ralph Brennan's, but it feels like the sort of place we would go to on a nice date and is very adult friendly.
