Aren't the rooms allocated on a "first come first served" basis?

While a room is already allocated, they can usually work around what we like. If they can't, they tell us and we thank them for trying. Sometimes everything works out and we get the tower and room we want without asking! When you say 'persist,' I think you should just let them know what you requested when making your reservation and see if they can still fulfill your request. As you mentioned above, see if they still have it noted down what you wanted.

The most successful strategy I've found is arriving early in the day, if that's possible for you. It could even be early in the morning. You go to check in, say you know your room won't be ready yet, but you'd like to leave your bags with bell services and right there you remind them of your room preference. You have a better chance of getting it then, because they quite possibly won't have allocated all your favored rooms for the day already. Then you go enjoy the parks, and they should take your cell number and call or text you when it's ready. Even this is no guarantee, but it's the best way I've found.
