I have been made in charge of my great grandmother's autobiography. It was on audiotapes (now lost) and in a few written versions (small type, odd font, double-spaced, one-sided, 8''x11'' size pages). I have a copy now in a long Microsoft word document. It's about 150 pages in 10-sized times new roman.

I have done some researching into self-publishing. I'm fine with designing the formatting of pages and all that. It's just that most seem designed for people who want to sell their works to others. I just want to print like 25 bound paperback navel size ones for us. I don't want THE cheapest quality, but I don't want to pay for services I don't want, or too much.

Anyone have any advice, experience, etc?

With a little research this author turned letters she discovered into a very interesting tale of the journey West in the 1850s. Very simple tale is very compelling especially as I read of waking children up pre-dawn to move to a new home and they have to walk because the weight in the wagon is for the necessities and they can not overtire the oxen...and then I think of the children that can not walk a day at DL...
SO good luck with this little hand-written story. It sounds very interesting.

Too bad JohnS1 doesn't post here anymore. I think he might know something about this.

Doesn't help that four family members (my audience) have degrees in English. Once I finish with the editing, I will have to choose. I've definitely corrected the errors caused by scanning, so that was a big part. So far lulu is number one but I will have to do more research.
