But, i am not sure about the music. the little music undertones that accompany each Disney character doesn't seem to match jingle bells. i seem to notice them much more than during regular small world. It is just a little jarring. And i think they added one. I think you can make out part of your world in the mermaid scene. I don't understand why for the holiday version they also had to have the character music. like i said it is all right during the regular version. But it seems overkill for the holiday version. It really seems like Disney wants to prove the detractors right. that is all a commercial for their characters. In the regular version of small world, i didn't seem to notice this but with holiday version i am not so sure. also while the decorations are well done in the America scene, i really think this room should be draped as in years past and used as the transition from Jingle Bells to Deck the Halls. Now there really is no transition. It is all bright sets to bright sets. With the transition room you left a bright set, when into a darkened room and then you come to the finale which is the brightest set of all. It was very theatrical. with the scene uncovered this is lost, which is a shame. Obviously you tube isn't the same as being there, so we will see how it is like in person.

It wasn't as if the attraction was begging for something like that. They could be completely removed and not be missed. But I digress. What we noticed was the lack of the second big red archway in the Mexico section, the one with the clanging bell. There's only one archway this year, and then a string of luminarias where the second archway used to be. The last room, the Grand Finale, was really, almost jarringly bright, the downside of using too many LED lights. You get used to it soon enough, but entering there for the first time was a little bit if a shock. But overall, the attraction was very nice as usual, even with the out of place Disney characters.

They will grow up with the characters in the ride, and it won't be any less timeless to them than the old IaSW is to you.

But history has proven .. that "classic" status in some things seem to trump over previous decisions that were ill conceived. Either done in vein, or just shear stupidity. DCA 1.0 was a failure. Now they are attempting to bring in "classic" Disney magic into the park with "DCA 2.0". Sleeping Beauty Castle's 1977 dioramas have been replaced with the attraction's first and original "art design" from 1957. Space Mountain's (now deemed - "classic") white cone exterior made it's way back into Tomorrowland, after a few years in it's brown - 1998 motif. Tomorrowland's ill-concieved "brown, bronze, copper" paint scheme of 1998 is being "washed away" .. as more and more classic futurism makes it's way back in .. with whites, and hints of blues, and silvers .. much like WDW's TL from 1971 to 1993 ..and to TDL's current TL. In 1993 in order to blend into the new neighborly Toon Town .. 'it's a small worlds' exterior was painted various pastel shades .. very much like DLP's. ONLY to have that decision overun by newer managements (just like all these other attractions) ... where the "classic" white design was brought back, and the color exterior now a thing of the past! NEXT......... Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln is reported to have more of it's "classic" appeal REINSTALLED with Royal Dano's voice of the original 1965 "Abe's" voice to trump over the new voice used in 2001! N.E.X.T. .............. The "DL Classic attraction" Submarine Voyage was brought back to life! Putting the show they installed aside .... Imagineering wanted this CLASSIC attraction brought back to life .. after nearly a decade of being left to disintegrate. HOW ABOUT ANOTHER? The Enchanted Tiki Room. Many people worried that the show would be taken out. By either TDL's show .. or WDW's "New Management". Instead ... the decision makers of DL in the 90s who let the attraction rout ... was BROUGHT BACK to it's CLASSIC appeal .. by lovingly restoring it perfectly as it was in 1963! Thank you Matt Oimet (newer management) .. and a big "BOO" to the previous managment who let it rout. I have provided examples of one creative decision that brought change in one (seemingly good, at the time) form .. to LATER be rectified! Or as it says in the dictionary for "rectified": 1. To set right; correct. And time, and time again .... newer managements have had to set right .. and correct what others from the past have done. So .. it's only a matter of time, that a future regime will take another look at what was done to 'it's a small world', and if their minds and hearts are in the right place .. as it has for all those examples I have laid out .. it will only be a matter of time a committee will sit down, and take another look at what was done with 'it's a small world' .. with some perspective. It's too early now. But eventually .. someone will look at with objective eyes .. and make rational observations about the artistic merit of what holds true, and what does not.
