In 2013 there weren't a lot of new informations regarding the parks or the movies. So I expect this year's expo to be another let down. The first disappointment happened yesterday, when JJ Abrams announced that there will not be any new footage of Star Wars 7. I didn't expect a trailer, since he said it will come in fall. However I expected some scenes from the movie, given it's Disney's most important movie right now. Maybe there will be some informations regarding Star Wars Rogue One. Since POTC 5 finished shooting recently, maybe we get a glimpse on that movie. I'm also pretty sure that the Parks & Resort presentation will also be a disappointment. There are rumours Disney might reveal the Star Wars Land, but I doubt that. They are bringing SDL to the expo and that's pretty boring, given that huge reveal was already last month. I'm hoping that we get at least some informations about the WDI documentary. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...JK-fchNk Maybe we might also get some news about the coffee table book about Star Wars in the Disney parks. Unfortunately the author Jason Surell left Disney, and so I guess that book is dead now too. The best thing would be to lower the expectations regarding new informations about certain projects, otherwise the weekend will be a disappointment like in 2013.

I suppose there's a lot that they could do in their big presentation, since we don't know too many details on any of the films, but I also wouldn't expect Star Wars Parks & Resorts seems like it has the most room to play around with. Obviously fans want to know what's happening with the $1.5B at DLR, and a TON of money (supposedly $3+B) recently got approved for WDW focusing on the Studios. Getting announcements for those projects would make people very excited and generate a lot of buzz, but I think that the presentation will focus on Avatar, Rivers of Light, and Shanghai. Those 3 projects have plenty of unrevealed details that could fill up a big presentation, while not really saying anything new In general, if this Expo fails to live up to the anticipation (like the last two did), I wonder how many more Expos there will be. It seems like other fan conventions do just a good a job bringing people together, so Disney needs something extra to make sure that people come to theirs; at this point, I'm not convinced that they have what it takes due to all the corporate bureaucracy

I'm sure the event itself is great for Disney fans. You can meet other fans or Disney employees, like imagineers, and get some infos about the company and its projects. Since the news aren't really coming, the whole event feels more like putting the mony out of people's pockets. However, I don't think that Disney is actually making any money with the expo, given the costs to put everything together. Then there's the huge San Diego Comic Con that generates a lot more buzz than D23 Expo.

Shanghai?) most actual new announcements will be in the panels/presentations. Unfortunately, the every-other-year Expos limits what they can provide. They are afraid to expose their "secret" projects that haven't been announced. And that leaves those projects that are already in the works that people already know about. So, Shanghai's under construction and Avatar has been announced and its model has been exposed. So those are the most likely. But, again, they may actually "announce" (leak?) something during a panel discussion. But I wouldn't go expecting too much there. ComicCon covered most of the spectacular film and gaming items. As I go (went) primarily for the Parks & Resort spectacular, I'm skipping this year as I'm not expecting much from them this time.

The Expo is not a big revenue driver, and it's pretty obvious that C-level management in Burbank doesn't consider the event a top priority for releasing big and important news.
