The reaction from Chris, Katherine, the judges, were all priceless.

I got the vibe that Seacrest was GOING for a big buildup, then someone from the wings waved at him going "NO TIME LEFT!!" and he just abruptly said "Chris, you're going home." It just seemed SO abrupt, and of course there really wasn't any time left.

I know their is a huge Country following that actually watches and votes on American Idol, so I guess that explains that one. But Katherine McPhee has proven nothing but that she is really good at cracking under pressure. Taylor is awesome for comic relief and Elliot just doesn't have anything else going for him other than his voice. Yesterday was a sad sad day. Oh well, maybe Taylor will win and Simon will hault production of the show because of it!

If it were true that it was fixed, what sense would it make to have people lose interest in watching the show?

Apparently a few million other viewers don't agree with you.

<<maybe Taylor will win and Simon will hault production of the show because of it!>>

Then how would Simon feed his massive ego?

Simon only cares about money (he even said so) and he is making a ton of it. He is not gonna end the show.

But a so-so performance might be the worst; the fans aren't scared enough to keep hitting redial, and the casual viewer isn't inspired to vote.<<

    Makes sense to me.

Maybe if more people voted for Chris, he would have survived another week.

I definitely felt the other ones deserved to go before Chris, but lately, Chris' performances weren't so great.

Chris didn't do a good job with Elvis.

Yet, I think America wasn't ready for another rocker like Bo Bice. Nor is America ready for another country singer like Carrie Underwood, which is why Kellie Pickler left.

I think America is really for a lounge singer like Taylor Hicks. Too bad for Simon Cowell.

Who of the 4 is most like the Spirit of Elvis ? The rocker Chris doing the King of Rock & Roll or

Little Elliot who looks more like Beaver than Elvis

    Joe Cocker impersonator Taylor

    or memory challenged Katherine ?

I thought Taylor took one of Elvis' more cheesy hits, 'In the Ghetto' and gave it soul, made it his own. I don't think the intention is to impersonate Elvis, nor match Elvis' style... it's to try and give these songs a fresh take, stamp it wth ther own personality and sound. Taylor did that, as did Elliott, in my opinion.
