Last time we had snow like this it took me almost 2 hours to get home in the evening (10 minutes usually) and I had to give up on the car and walk.

The people at work were not happy, but the official advice is to stay home and I'm not a Dr or a Fireman. The world of mail order will have to struggle on without me for one day. Mind you, I will lose a day's pay!!!

Like we say, here in the UK they can't cope with the snow - having spent my night snowed in the car stuck on the highway before, I swear when I see it snowing. Elsewhere where they are used to it - Northern and Eastern Europe, parts of the States and Canada, it's fine. But when snow plows don't exist most places and the council can't get the drivers in to grit the roads, the UK becomes a very dangerous place in the snow.

I did manage to play with the kids in the snow before starting work however!!!

    Happy little film.

My brother lives in North Carolina, and they shut down for even less snow than 3 inches.

Its a question of equipment. With plows even 3 inches can make freeways and highways unsafe. But I have always found it interesting that people are snowbound with just 3 inches. When it snowed 24 inches here in December they didn't plow the neighborhood streets and we got in and out of the neighborhood just fine.

To me snow has only one good purpose and that is to give Santa a place to land his sleigh. After that it should have the common decency to go away.
