Sure, the DL castle is a little small and makes for difficult fireworks viewing, but it is small enough that it's able to hide behind the trees and other buildings, conserving the themes of the other lands (I wish I could say the same about the Astro Orbitor, which you can see from the Haunted Mansion).

At WDW eventhing was built on a bigger scale. Just the hub at WDW is about as far across as all of Main Street at DL. As Darkbeer has point out, a large castle would dominate everthing. The DL castle is more than just another building at DL, it is one of the main symbols of the park for the last 53 years. I'm not one for making DL a museum (I think it is long past time for Lincoln to retire), but the castle is just too much of a symbol of DL. I don't mind them pulsing the paint job on it or putting some snow on it (but hated the gold 50th treatment). I would say if they radically change the castle, they would have a riot from the long time DL fans. So it is not going to happen.

Of course the come back is that they while they thought about it, they thought better of it and didn't do it . I do remember the hearing a recording of Herb talking about the "lost weekend" bird's eye view sketch that Walt wanted a big castle he drew it so big that they never could have afforded it. As others have said, at this point it would be out of proportion. Imagine the view back from the second deck of the Mark Twain with the Matterhorn behind the castle. What I would not mind them doing is putting in a dungeon with the dragon from DL Paris.

My guilty pleasure was that I was down there watching the dragon and it was sleeping, then it woke up and scared a little kid out of his skin . I understand it is the same Dragon in the Tokyo walk through of the castle, but you go buy it so fast you don't get to enjoy it. I like the way the dragon was done better in Paris as sort of a little surprise. I do like the Tokyo walk though adventure where I found the Paris walk through pretty weak. I got the gist of what was going on but was confused by the ending until I explained it to my brother who said "that was the Horn Kind from The Black Cauldron" (must have gone over bigger in Japan?).

They closed the walk-through in TDL a while ago, because of the cost of running it, and many people with similar reactions (confused about the content because the movie didn't do well) to what you had. I don't remember the exact time that it closed, but I think it was around a year ago. You can check the TDL section for more details (there aren't that many threads there, so it should be pretty easy to find).
