    Is there a chance the saved game is still on the computer somewhere? Anybody have a clue where I can look or how to restore it?

    For the most part, they are pretty much gone becuase its not worth the trouble to recover.

    Plus its a game. The joy is in replaying, unless its world of warcraft, at which point you just throw the computer out the window.
