Anyway that is so cool that they would march at the MK. I believe It is also cool that you would take the time to attend a marching comp.
I marched with Garfield Cadets in '83. I love DCI. And was thrilled Disey included Blast at DCA and Blast II at EPCOT. Even though Blast II wasn't really DCI, (they had reeds). But it is great that this kind of performances are getting attention.

    lol.

Glad you had a nice time, thanks for the link!

(picky little point, but just for the record drum corps kids prefer that people refer to their groups as "corps" rather than "bands", so as to differentiate from traditional flute and saxophone type marching "bands")

I was never involved with DCI, and those who were at my school never talked about the experience. I will be sure when I do my Saturday write up (Soon!!) I will be sure to say Corps.

and that train station is indeed one of the better spots to get group photos.

The Last one I went to was the finals in 1983. So it was great to be back. A lot has changed. The whole thing seems less disciplined than in the old days. When did they drop the timing guns and the formal, "You may take the field of competition"? Right after the Drum Major salute they just started when they wanted. With the Blue Stars it was hard to tell if it was part of the show or part of the warm up.
Anyway Boston Crusaders were tight. Blue Devils AMAZING. My kids loved the Ballad of Sweeney Todd. And I got a big thrill that Phantom revived Spartacus from their 1981 and 1982 seasons. I was really into DCI back then and loved their Spartacus. Sadly Garfield, the corp I marched with, wasn't at Drums Across the Tri-State this year. But all 3 of the big corps I saw this year gave me goose bumps.
It looks like The Blue Devils and Phantom are neck and neck heading into the finals. I thought they were both fantastic. The Cavs are also doing very well.
Mr. X, what corp did you say you marched with?
