I'd say it's about average, yeah.

I really liked the DisneySea Rhythms of the World a few years back, that was REALLY elaborate and cool (with a neat Jammitors pre-show and everything).

First to answer Dave's question I wouldn't say this show is usual for the Resort, but this is the kind of show that the Resort is capable of putting on. Over the last few years entertainment for the special events at the Resort have been disapointing at times. But with Mysterious Masquerade debuting this year for Halloween and the return of the Christmas Parade in November, TDR seems to be heading back in the right direction.

Its times like this that I wish I could relocate to Japan and enjoy all the Seasonal Events in person. As the entertainment at Disneyland Paris currently sucks, and no doubt anyone who's made the mistake of watching Mickey's Magical Party Time can relate to this. Just an example watch the video in the link and jump 5 minutes 35 seconds into it. You will see why myself and Dave are so impressed by the effort that has gone into Mysterious Masquerade. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...embedded

My god, that was awful. I couldn't even watch more than a few seconds from that point. I'm not a fan of character shows, but at least there is quality and a high budget in the TDR shows. My personal favorite park when it comes to entertainment is still Disneyland. The combination of both Fantasmic and the RDCT fireworks is still unmatched in my opinion. Quality-wise, I think DisneySea will be in a very polished spot once Fantasmic debuts- coupled with Mythica and other top notch efforts like Big Band Beat and Mystic Rhythms.

But I would love to have a Japan LP meet, that would be awesome. Managed to do LP meets in Paris, Orlando and Anaheim. Tokyo would be a must.

And like I say, a few years ago DLP had awesome entertainment options, now, no way.

It looked like he was going to pass out, or maybe just say "screw you guys, I'm going home!". I must say that DLP sure loves their ribbon dancing though! It seems like every event has that...when you can't dance, twirl a ribbon!

Yeah like Dave points out the show Mickey's Party Time is taking place everyday during this year as part of Mickey's Magical Party. But for Halloween it finishes the show with an alternative villian's ending. Disneyland Paris also has a Halloween show but it only performs during the ticketed after hours event, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Parties. Disney’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Show is actually a better show than Mickey's Party Time, but of course still not in the same league as Tokyo DisneySea's Mysterious Masquerade. DLRPToday.com has more details up on this years ticketed Halloween events if you care to look, http://www.dlrptoday.com/2009/...n-video/ and Tokyo Disneyland music fans may be interested to check out the cavalcade video featuring the Cars from Disney's Stars 'N' Cars on parade down Main Street to a popular song that was once used for a Halloween parade at Tokyo Disneyland. So Bob Paris may like to take note seeing he finds it disgusting to hear Tokyo Disney Resort music being played at another park to a bunch of hillbillies.

I'll be out exploring the Kansai region in March so if they is anything you would like me to look up for you while I'm on my travels let me know, as you stated previously you would like to visit places like Kyoto and Osaka. And I would hold up on any trips to Tokyo until the pound improves, my trip in May was very costly and I'm expecting March to be the same.

*** And like I say, a few years ago DLP had awesome entertainment options, now, no way. ***

While I agree in defense of Disneyland Paris not all entertainment introduced this year has been all bad. The Stars 'N' Cars was a suprise hit and the new Play House Disney show caters to an audience mainly ignored by Disneyland Paris.

At the mo, it is up in the air as to exactly what we do, whether we just stay in Toyko and TDL, or whether we go to Osaka (Universal Studios and the Castle), Kyoto for 3 or 4 days and stay at a Ryokan (we don't tend to get bored of temples, shrines and castles), and then go to Tokyo and TDL.

In Tokyo, so far the musts seem to be (in no particular order):

Shopping in Ginza
Imperial Palace
Tsuiji Fish MArket
Tokyo Tower? No so sure if this is a priority
Ueno Park (maybe the zoo - Sarah is panda obsessed and we do not have any in Europe anymore)
Tokyo National Museum
Senso-ji Temple
Trying a little Pachinko
Harajuku district
Maybe a baseball game
As well as 5 days of TDL/TDS

Also of possible interest are:

The great Bubbha of Daibutsu
Chichibu-Tama National Park
Matsumoto Castle
Todai-ji Temple and the giant Buddha - Nara
Himeji Castle (though this is supposed to be under tarps for the next couple of years for refurbishment)
Kyoto seems a must - Toji Temple, Nijo castle, Gion district, the Philosopher's Walk,Gold and Silver Pavillions, Ryoan-ji Temple,

I doubt we will fit it all in, so I would love the steer of other LPers.

As for Paris, agreed that Playhouse Disney is a good addition, but I do not see it in the same way as MMP or Tarzan. I see it as a new attraction because it is built to last for several years in a bespoke facility.

Star and Cars - meh.

Sorry to say, there are no longer any Pandas at the Ueno zoo either. :(

I don't want to take this thread too far off topic, but I have some suggestions that others might like to find as well (which they wouldn't if I wrote it all here in an Entertainment thread).
