I sometimes wonder how much money they could have made if they made the Pirate and Princess stuff(parade, fireworks, entertainment) something you could only experience on weekends or some other times and how packed the park would be if they did that. The problem with an upcharge event at DHS is that it simply doesn't have the rides or capacity that MK has to make it worthwhile for an upcharge event.

Really cheap of them, I think.

What bothers me is just how in your face they are about these events and how now (Princess and Pirates) they're creating events that have no reason for being other than to gouge guests and encourage more crap merchandise to be sold. These PP Parties (no jokes, please) have been a failure but Erin Wallace and Phil Holmes refuse to let them go come hell or hurricanes. And the Christmas Parties are pure extortion for guests who arrive at WDW for a week in late November or mid-december and expect to see a Christmas Parade or Holiday Wishes. Uh-uh. Not unless you cough up another $50. Forget the fact these things were offered as part of MK entertainment from 1971 to the start of this decade. Nope. Now you pay one way or the other. Either an extra $50 before Christmas week or the most expensive prices of the year for hotels and now with surcharges, food as well. Magical holiday gift. Even a great event that I support ... MNSSHP's have become too much. An event that used to be offered 4 nights is now a 20-night marathon with the parties beginning Sept. 5th this year. As a matter of fact on 9/5/08 WDW will mark a milestone that shouldn't make anyone but an exec smile -- for the first time ever TWO parks will close early on the same night for hard-ticket parties as the Night of Joy Christian Music and Debauchery Fest moves to the Studios park. Why? Because this is WDW and they can get away with it.

Nowhere near the number that WDW has but it is a decent number - the JCB parties are the most popular.

Florida is the model they want to build all their resorts around to the extent it is possible. But you know this ...

Until more guests catch on, though, and stop coming, Management will continue to get by with all this immoral price gouging.

But they close the whole park early for that stuff (in general), or just parts of it?

When someone is spending 30 to 49% more on necesities now than they were 2 or 3 years ago, it starts affecting the vacation budget at some point. WDW is a bit immune to it because they do get more overseas visitors who love the fact they can get a cheap American vacation, but you will see more and more Americans skip vacation plans or tone them down in the near future.
