If I traveling just inside the U.S. I think that I would just buy a small tree at Target put some decorations inside of the tree box-lots of room-and ship it to the hotel! You would need to put on the outside of the box not just your name put arrival date in the lower left hand corner-(I know this because I have sent my kids suprises that were there waiting for them at the DLH for a LOT less and a better variety, IMHO, than VP offers) I do remember that the little trees that the DH offers has no lights. Personally I think that I would bring some mini lights with me to wrap around the tree. To me a tree just sits there without lights! :0)

But, if you do the send ahead thing, when you check in do it without kids right there. Tell the desk that you know you have packages-have them check on it-but they are a surprise and you will come down for it yourself later-have them put the note on the package regarding this so some eager beaver doesn't take it up to your room because he didn't know. Send the hubby and the kids ahead telling them some little white lie-like you forgot something in the room and have to go back and to go ahead and you will meet them where ever. Put the tree up yourself- and drape garland EVERYWHERE! Then dash off to meet the family. DLH does not like lights so if you put lights on your tree-I do-just don't plug them in yet. Have a reason to be the first one back to light the tree ahead of time. Pack some of those wonderful chocolate Santas and smuggle them in your suitcase to put up and surprise the kiddies with too. I also like to bring one of those holiday scented glade plug-ins! Makes the room smell soooo Christmasy!

We asked if we could bring lights to adorn the atrificial tree we got from Disney and we were told for saftey reasons lights are not permitted on *any*, be they purchased through DLR or elsewhere, trees in DLH rooms. Of course I guess anyone could put them on their tree, but I figure they have their reasons for not wanting them, and I abide. dsny1mom

Don't know what sizes they will offer this year but if they offer a large tree and small tree everyone will have to decide what is best for them. dsny1mom
