When they add Carsland and change the entrance, DCA will start to feel and look like a complete theme park finally.

Yes, maybe they are using the characterization of attractions as a crutch, but in the end, good ideas, and quality execution, regardless of whether they are cartoon based or not, usually will make for something worthwhile and good. >>>There seems to be two different designs shown for the exterior to the Little Mermaid attraction. The concept art makes the Wheel look worse in my estimation. Here in europe, a lot of the fun fairs have illegal disney representations on the waveswingers, so it looks even more like a cheap funfair, and Mulholland Madness does not look great either. I am looking forward to the Carsland and Entrance artwork though. Those are the only two parts of the refurb that interest me.

Rarely. My biggest complaint is that they keep sticking these things in places where they do not belong. Nemo in Tomorrowland is the perfect example. In the case of PP the vintage Disney characters fit nicely in a "Disneyfied" version of an old fashioned pleasure pier.

It seems that Paradise Pier will remain about the same size, while eliminating the need for the really wide road that currently runs behind it from the parking lot. It also looks like Carsland (gross name) has been scaled back in size from what was originally announced. There does not appear to be nearly as much of the ride taking place outside (may be a good thing), and it looks like only one other attraction in the land. While I'm sure it will still be nice, it does seem less grand and impressive than what was originally announced. It does give me hope, however, that they are leaving about the same ammount of space that Carsland takes up empty right next to it, meaning we will probably get another land eventually (though I don't have any idea how you will access it). Another thing that appears to have changed is the parade route will be longer than we thought. It looks like the parades will now begin just behind the Carthay Circle, approximately where they currently leave the Sunshine Plaza and enter the Golden State. That way, there is still plenty of space to view the parade, and it doesn't require blocking the main path to the Cars area. I've always thought that the Sunshine Plaza was one of the worst places to watch a parade (depending on your spot, you see the floats about 7 minutes before they pass by), so I'm really happy with the compromise they've come up with. I do kind of wonder what the black circles mean, along with the dashed line leading into Carsland...

It looks like they might be splitting the land into two different parts (the one with the darker background around the Racers and tire rides, and the lighter background with open space and a large show building-drive in restuarant?). Hopefully that is just something about the way the areas will look, not different phases of the construciton. If they ever want to introduce everybody to the 'new' DCA, they should at least have it finished, and not release it in tiny stages. They will never escape the stigma of being the 'other' park that way, IMO.

I do like the beaux arts approach they are using for these buildings. It has a degree of fantasy, yet is grounded in real architectural history.

But that style wouldn't fit with the rumored re-theming of Condor Flats to an extension of the woodsy wilderness-ey Golden State. But then again, neither does the GC Hotel, so at least there is precedent for sticking stuff in there that doesn't exactly fit thematically.

For a minute .. It looks like it could have been an earlier concept for Little Mermaid .. while the one above looks more "finalized". But I do agree it looks more like a redress of Soarin' .. and it was just misplaced with the artwork for "Mermaid". The Mermaid building looks really beautiful! I really hope the real thing comes off as magical as the artwork shows. My only disappointment is keeping Mulholland Madness. I want to see that thing leveled!
