Also the TDS' Mermaid show is finally being retired and a new show (with a storyline!) will actually be replacing it. It should close next Spring and take a year to refit the theater.

There is no replacement parade for Mythica at the moment.

The new show is Dreams just with a different name (as Dreams was associated with the 20th anniversary).

I'm glad to see Mermaid go - really hated that show. Neat Curry puppets but no story and the most abrupt ending in Disney theme park show history! Ultimately running consecutive shows just made the show unworkable.

Does TDS have the infrastructure to support a land-based parade? Obviously a water-based event makes more sense thematically, but one on land would probably be easier to maintain. And have they ever considered doing a water procession all the way through the park? The waterway that the steamers take does a nice lap past everything, making for a decent number of viewing opportunities, but it's also a pretty long route for a performance corridor

Land-based parades as you call them have been performed at TDS before, so I would guess the answer is yes. Albeit the size of floats have been on a smaller scale due to the narrow walkways around Mediterranean harbor.

Infrastructure - no if you mean lighting and sound. Everything is orientated to the lagoon. The lighting booms can't cover the walkways. As TDLFAN pointed out the pathways are too narrow to host a full-sized parade.

TDLFAN will probably remember better than me - but I think only the two Dramatic DisneySea incarnations had significant parade elements. Once Waterfront Park opened there wasn't much need to try and shoehorn entertainment into Med Harbor.

The only one I can come up with is all around the perimiter, but that would require taking floats through Fortress Explorations and down the twisty ramps in the Roman ruins area, neither of which are exactly conducive to a good performance. I can see why they've stayed away from that sort of tihng

As for your other question, yes mini-water parades of sorts have gone all the way 'round the park - at least one that I'm familiar with that was connected with the summertime "Cool Service" shows.

Step off was between the Post Office and Zambini Bros. (there is an access point to backstage there where the floats were stored (right by the lagoon). For the life of me though I can't remember how it reset - I'm thinking it was just reversed back out.

I'm sure the first DDS is on Youtube - it was an inventive show - really worked for the more "adult" environment of TDS. The show mode music is still one of my favorites. The second year wasn't quite as good IMHO.

I should have mentioned the floats - there were compact - usually a higher height/width ratio that is typical for a parade float.
