I haven't slept more than a few hours a night since this all happened. I was told three years ago this month that a transplant is in my future. I have worked very, very hard to keep myself healthy enough to where, hopefully, I can live out a normal lifespan without having to go through the trauma that comes with a heart transplant. I have done relatively well with this since being placed on the waiting list. If you saw me, you probably wouldn't notice anything was "wrong." (I'm currently on "hold" status on the waiting list.) My confidence is fragile, though. All it takes is something like last Thursday to wreck it, and I have to start building it up all over again. It's an exhausting struggle sometimes.
