When my kids were small, we would have "Friday Night Movies." We'd rent a movie or put in one of our own Disney movies, make a bowl of popcorn and settle in for an evening together. It was a great way to end the week. We also sometimes watched the TGIF shows on ABC. The shows were simple and fluffy, but good clean fun for the whole family.

I have great memories of eagerly getting up on Saturday mornings when I was a little kid and watching cartoons until mom or dad sent me out to play.

So I like these special blocks of programming, and agree that I'd like to see Disney try it again now with new shows.

Anyway, the concept of designated programming blocks is a relic of the past I think, as less of us actually watch programs when they air and either DVR them or watch online. I for one never watch live TV anymore.

Why have a cartoon block, when they are watching Nickelodeon, Disney Channel, Cartoon Network, etc.? I realize lots of families don't have cable, but I just see the trend to not invest in network cartoon blocks for kids continuing.

I also miss the blocks Disney use to have on tv, but then I also remeber when we only had 3 networks and UHF to choose from! Lol.
