So, how dare such a jaded jerk label one of Walt Disney's best princes as such? ORWEN: And I don't even know what he was trying to call Princess Aurora, herself!! But it didn't sound very nice. I'd like to put a hex on that nasty author!! ORGOCH: Got the right potion fer it?

While impressive to look at, I think "Sleeping Beauty" is pretty close to the top of the list of the weakest of the Walt-era Disney animated features. The main character is extremely uninteresting and the film itself drags like crazy. Besides the visuals, though, the movie's one huge strength is that it has an exceptionally good villain. I think that re-telling the story from Maleficient's perspective has a strong potential to end up as a much better film than the original. -Jeff

A lot of it seems like it's too forced to be dark and strange all the time, but this idea sounds like it would actually be justified in it. Of course, there are a ton of other things to take into account, but this is the only project I've heard of that I would rather see Burton do than anyone else (assuming it happens).

As a matter of fact, it moves along very quickly with lots of beautiful music and lively animation. I do think the movie has so much rich detail that it goes over the heads of some. And Aurora is hardly boring. She's one of the most endearing Disney heroines there is. But her subtle personality can't be appreciated by all. Lastly, doing a movie about Maleficent might be interesting but it could never surpass the original movie by concentrating on all that twisted evil. I guess it comes down to whether or not you're more attracted to good things or bad things.
