If anyone has had a stroke or experiences with anyone who has had one, it isn’t always easy dealing with the feelings that come about when recovering from a stroke. My left side is always tingling waiting for nerves to rebuild it can take years to get sensations back. I try not to let people know when I don’t feel just right. I hate being a wimp so I really push myself to regain my strength and balance. I was nervous on how I would be on the airplane and walking around in DL. I really needed this to prove I was getting back to normal. I just needed to be in DL for a piece of mind, a healing. I missed it so much! I know you all understand what I mean. We were one very excited group! Left Sat. 4/1. Flew from Seattle to Long Beach, CA about a 2 ½ hour flt. The nephews were very excited to start this trip. We get to the airport and find we aren’t sitting together, no problem, DB and DN1 had seats toward the front of the plane, DH, DN2 and I sat toward the back. DN2 sat between us and kept busy by coloring pictures of Goofy, Donald Duck, and Mickey Mouse. DN2 is behaving so well I give him a treat of yellow peeps, he gobbled them up then asked for a sprite when the flt. Attendant comes around. I am not stressing or having an anxiety attack being on the plane. I’m relaxed, everything feels good. Everything was starting off just great! I dozed off smiling only to be tapped awake by DH. Uh oh, DN2 got sick. He had thrown up on the front of his shirt and pants. This kid is amazing, no sound, or crying. DH said he didn’t know he had gotten sick until he was tapped by DN2 twice. I start pulling out the wet wipes and tell DH to get the attendants and get DB! I’m like oh man, I’m not good at this. Holding back the urge to upchuck myself, I try to tug his shirt up over his head without getting puke everywhere. At that moment the attendants descend on us like a hazmat team, YAY! They had gloves on, napkins ready, wiped him down took off his clothes put them in plastic bags and wrapped him in a blanket then buckled him in. They were absolutely incredible! We landed 10 min. later. I’m thinking please don’t let this be stomach flu, please don’t let this be stomach flu, oh please! We love how small this airport is. The rental cars are a short walk across the Street from the baggage claim area. The taxi service is also located across the street. The car rental agencies are: Alamo/National Avis Budget Enterprise Hertz DB gets new clothes on DN2. DH gets the rental van and we pile everything into the van. I give everyone pepto bismol to hopefully ward of the virus. DH thinks DN2 just has motion sickness. We head off to Las Vegas to visit my father, sister, and brother. DN2 threw up a few more times. Now we are worried and think, maybe we should get a hotel room so we don’t expose my father to a vomiting virus. Not good since my dad weighs about 100 lbs, and is getting stronger since his last bout in the hospital last month this would be the last thing he needs. We call my sister and my dad says, come on over, he will wear a mask and gloves, I’m like, um no. I have my sister call Excalibur or Circus Circus and make ressies for us. Once we had to pull over to clean him up and change his clothes. While we were doing this a CA police car pulled up behind us and over his loud speaker asks if everything is all right. None of us had seen him drive up and he scared the bejeezuz out of us! Once he found out we had a sick boy in the car he told us that there were some fast food places at the next exit that we could use the restrooms to clean up, and to be careful when merging back into traffic and took off. We thought it was nice of him to stop and inquire. We didn’t arrive into Las Vegas until 6:30 pm a few hours later than we anticipated due to the stops to let DN2 walk around to get rid of the nausea. My sister calls and says Dad really wants us to stay with him. He got some anti-nausea medicine from the doc. Just in case. I say no, I really don’t want to chance it and even though he has the meds he can’t risk catching a virus. By now the nephews are upset because they aren’t going to see Papa and my Dad is upset because he really wants to see his grandsons, vomiting virus be damned. I feel like the wicked witch and reluctantly give in. Once we got to my Dad’s DN2 got a nice warm bath and was tucked in to bed. The next day he was up and about feeling like his old energetic self. No one else got sick on the trip, so it was just a case of motion sickness, his first experience. He sure was a trooper, and blamed it all on the yellow peeps which he refused to eat the rest of the trip. Part II LV LP mini meet!

If you hadn't filled me in on how you felt after your stroke I would be lost! My feelings/sensations turned out to be just as you described in my stroke topic DH started when I was in the hospital. It really prepared me for what was about to be. Thank you!
