    Spider-Man 3 May 4
Pros: The first two films were well-received. The appearance of villians the Sandman, Venom, the return of a new Green Goblin. The entire cast and crew return again. It's going to be a darker story than before.

Cons: Runtime could be a problem, it's rumored to be 2 hours 36 minutes. The tone of the movie could keep some families away.

Bottom Line: It's going to start the Summer season off with a bang. The opening weekend of Dead Man's Chest could be in serious jeopardy. Look for it to open with about 130 Million and finish out at 415 million.

    Shrek the Third May 18

Pros: Appears to be going with if it ain't broke don't fix it approach that worked well with the first two. People love the characters. Will likely have the shortest runtime of the three movies. Will be popular with families.

Cons: Another CGI film. You can only repeat the same jokes until they get stale.

Bottom Line: Will be a huge hit with families, but maybe not as much with older fans. Again will open to more than 100 million and finish at about 375 million.

Pirates of the Carribean: At World End May 25

Pros: The most popular movie franchise of the moment. Again people love the characters, especially Captain Jack. The special effects should be great. Some people loved the cliff hanger of the second one. Plus it's likely to be the last one.

Cons: Rumored to be 2 hours 51 minutes. The special effects could get in the way of the story. Some people didn't really like Dead Man's Chest.

Bottom Line: This is going to win the Summer and the year. Dead Man's opening weekend will go down hard as the film will open to more than 150 million and will finish with 520 million.

    For 'Pirates of the Caribbean'???

Aren't they taking themselves a bit too seriously?

    'Schindler's List' -- okay...3 hours 15 minutes

'Sound of Music' -- yeah...2 hours 50 minutes

I plan on seeing all three, but if I only get in one it will be Pirates. For one, the last one ended on a cliff-hanger, it was really just the first half of a VERY long movie to my way of thinking, and I'd like to see how everything gets resolved. Secondly, it was partially filmed at my beloved Salt Flats and I'd like to see how they incorporated it into the franchise.
FWIW, the Wendover locals were not as impressed with Jonnie Depp and company as the production assumed they would be. They kept moving the actors from hotel to hotel to protect them, but none of the locals had the time or inclination to bother any actors, lol.

    - Sandman
    - Gwen Stacy
    - More of Harry Osborne's transformation into the new Green Goblin
    - Venom, or at least the setup for Venom

That's an awful lot for just one movie.

I hope Pirates will blow me away because I was less than enthused about Dead Man's Chest. I have the DVD and will watch it again to see if I change my mind on it.
