DON'T continue an online relationship with this guy. He will find a way to rip you off!!!

Officerminnie is right. Call your Attorney General's office and report it. Do NOT have any further contact with him.

That doesn't prevent you from being victimized. As someone else already mentioned, one common way for the scam to play out is for them to "need a favor" in getting a cashier's check cashed where you get to keep half. So let's say you agree to this: they send you a cashier's check for $5000, you deposit into your checking account, wait a couple of days, then withdrawal $2500 and take it to Western Union and wire it to him. Then at some later point, the cashier's check comes back as being invalid, and then your bank account is overdrawn by $2500. You say that you have no money - well this scam works particularly well for people in that situation as they may be tempted at the notion of picking up some easy money by helping out what seems to be a nice and unfortunate person on the other end of the email.

He apparently already knows your first name. My advice would be to skip reporting it to the AG, and simply stop responding to him in any way.

Do you really think reporting them to the AG would be of any use? I get so many of these things, it's ridiculous.

Yes, report it. The AG's office could be tracking this particular scammer already and more information could be helpful. Besides, why not report it? Apathy allows this stuff to breed.

Then block your this guy on your email, don't just assign it to SPAM. Each little piece of correspondence gives a little more personal information about you. That's what he's looking for. You may be having fun toying with this guy (heck, I would!), but you are opening yourself up to worse things.

Once you respond to these people they normally stay with you. They come across as uneducated and helpless. Trust me they are not. These are very smart people; they may not even be Nigerian. They know how to bait people. Ever time you will unwittingly provide them with information they can use to defraud you.

Teddi, I know you are tempted to carry on communication with them to taunt them. My adivce is to not do this. These are very dangerous people. You might think they can do you know harm; trust me, they can.

And if anything, reporting them helps us to squelch their further preying on other people.
