What Disney is doing for DCS is wonderful and the make over has me enthralled. I am hooked on the make over and very excited to book a trip when the new entrance street is complete.

Also - I remember visiting DCA three months after if opened and thought it was a good start. Some areas were top notch. The only area that made me shudder in horror was Paradise Pier. If they bulldozed that whole area I would have been happy. Bow seeing what they have dine to remake that area is astounding. I am so impressed. My wish would be a better entrance to Screamin.'

Another dark ride next to midway mania.

Something to compliment GRRR and Soarin' in that area.

Hollywood is quickly becoming the Tomorrowland of DCA. From Muppets and it's pee smell to boarded up restaurants and hip hop mickey dance shows.
This is clearly a placethat is lost.

Several of the rides there are the exact same rides that are in an amusement park here in Utah. By making the theme of the park a place that you can actually go they kinda shot themselves in the foot. I know I spend more time there the more Disney themed it gets. I think they are headed in the right direction. I love all the pixar stuff they have added and wouldn't mind seeing more.

See, now this is the exact opposite of the way I feel. I do not want to go to a kiddy toony park, I never fell in love with Disney for the toons. I want a park that is immersive and has cannot be seen elsewhere experiences, but to me that does not mean slapping a Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck or Pixar character on it.

While many things about DCA have been improved, many things are far worse (much of the Paradise Pier make over is a waste of money IMHO).

But I know I am in the minority, so I am looking to other places and spending my money there.

For example, I am really looking forward to going to Efteling later this month and the water show that is due to open is more interesting to me than WoC.

To me, Disney has jumped the shark....

Every picture I've ever seen of you Dave, you've had characters "slapped" on you from head to toe.

I may not have seen as many pictures of Dave as others, but in his long TR this spring there were plenty of pictures of him without any characters.

And there is a huge difference between tooning the parks and putting on Mickey ears. The one is cutting down in the variety of environments that are on offer and diminishing the chance to use your own fantasy about those locales. The other is having fun dressing up personally, possibly to fill a role in the fantasy world one enters, but not only for that.

But that's just me, probably. I don't hate the characters, but I probably wouldn't ever wear a character themed item of clothing. I'm weird like that.

That's a great way of putting it. They've done great things in the past, there are still occasional good things, but most of what seems to come out of them these days is just too ridiculous to believe. If I had to narrow it down to a single moment where the jumped the shark, I'd probably say the Sun Wheel/Fun Wheel conversion. It cost a ton of money, added nothing to the experience, and was marketed at full hilt. Just for some more character faces on things.
