I began to wonder if they had put back the old soundtrack for some reason. But, after the last lift hill, the new music played. I actually liked this mix better than the new one. The old lift hill music is more dramatic and suspense-building, in my opinion. The next weekend I went on SM again with some friends and the soundtrack in our rocket was entirely the new 2005 soundtrack. I'm wondering if they've been experimenting with changes to the music. Has anyone else noticed or experienced a difference in the music lately when you've ridden SM?

ALso the new track is nearly half the length at 1m26s, which I suppose would mean that you'll always get the old track at some stage. I do like the new track though and was glad I got to hear it when we were last there.

Originally Posted By SIR at X-S Tech <<The title of the new Track is "Space Mountain (Daytime Track)". >> Well that was the title it was given on the various Official CD releases, but it's not necessarily the name the Composer gave it. When it was released just before the start of the 50th, the plan as far as anyone at Walt Disney Records knew, was still to introduce the nightime only "Rockit Mountain" attraction later that year. So the "Daytime" tag was added to the name to differentiate it from the "Nighttime" track used later in the future. Also, the piece used on the CD, is missing the newly composed music you hear on the chain lifts of the attraction, so yes, it is short compared to the actual attraction and the previous Dick Dale track. As for this mix of the old and the new- kinda neat, if for no other reason than DBitz2 may have heard a rare bit of Imagineering tinkering. The way the sound systems on the rockets are set up, I doubt it was an error. But who knows.
