We were at Epcot, and being from California, we knew what to expect from Soarin. I wanted to ride it just to see if there was any difference. The only thing was the queue, as many of you know. Anyways... we wanted section "B1" on the ride (front row, center). Now going to both Disneyland and Disney World for years, I've never had any problem requesting where to sit on a ride. The CM's always say politely that you may have to wait a little longer, which is fine.

So when we got to boarding, I asked the lady CM very politely if my party could wait for section B1. I was in shock with the reaction I got. First she stared at me with this attitude, then rolled her eyes, then in a very snappy voice said "well you can try!!!"

Then she yelled at us to "walk over there!!", which was in front of the B1 boarding section. Well saying "walk over there" doesn't give much direction and the section was empty, so we thought she said go wait in the line in front of the pre-show screen. We waited patiently and the CM came around the corner and started to yell at us... "I TOLD YOU TO WAIT OVER HERE!!" as she pointed against the wall.

Another male CM came around the corner and asked what was going on. The lady CM said we weren't listening to her and we were trying to "board ourselves." The male CM started to yell at us saying "YOU DON'T BOARD YOURSELF! WE BOARD YOU!" Yes, they were yelling at us. Mind you that both these CM's were older in age. Not kids.

I was so in shock by how poorly we were treated. It was just awful! I wanted to skip the ride and go straight to guest relations.

I told myself I'll just brush it off, but now that I think of it today I'm still upset.

And I have never had a problem with that request at DL.

Oh boy, I wish that'd been me!

Forget guest relations, that would've been taken care of right there and then.

My only statement to those two would've been "Get your supervisor over here, NOW!".

(except I would've included an extra word or two, but Doobie doesn't like it when we get graphic around here lol)

Brianin, you should write a letter to WDW Guest Relations - CMs should behave better than that!

I was at Soarin last week and a CM I know told me they have recently added several "elderly" (his term) CM's who were clueless to that attraction and how to deal with guests.

My wife and I were treated rudely by an older CM at the Boardwalk. He was blocking the entire hallway with a luggage cart while he was talking to another guest. We asked him politely to move so we could get by. He looked at us and turned back toward the other guest and kept on talking as though we didn't exist. After a few seconds I walked up, moved his cart out of the way and my wife and I walked by. I would have let it it go until he made a comment to the other guest saying "I don't know what their problem is" in a tone loud enough so we could hear it. I turned to him and said "I heard that and now I am going to guest relations and they are going to hear about it too." I filed a complaint but never knew what happened even though I was told he would be spoken to.

It seems kinda odd and goes against the grain when one thinks of it, of course there have been many older CMs who it has been very pleasurable to chat with mostly because of their knowledge and the stories they have had.

Last year on TSM I solo - ask for a seat alone. Hey if I can't do single rider I don't feel I need to share since I got to wait over an hour... One time they stop the ride and said there's a seat after my request. I said NO I riding alone. BOY did I get looks. TICKED ME OFF so much I went back in line again and did it again. I just don't agree with that crap.

Open up single rider lines and we can share all day. My opinion.

I'm not so sure about this one, Joy. Although I do insist on sitting solo on HM and Space, so maybe it's not that far fetched. I actually kinda like having someone there to compete against in TSMM.
